Ok, you’ve toiled over the writing of your manuscript. You’ve found an assisted self-publisher that gave you a great deal and helped you get your book published, it looks Great! Now what? I’m glad you asked, because I’m about to tell you how to go about selling your book online.

Can I see some ID please?

First things first, you need to get your book its own ISBN number. Every book lover has seen or heard of a book’s ISBN number, it is the number given to each book to track its sales, inventory and orders. Its basically an ID for books. Usually your self publisher can help you with this too.

Show off your masterpiece

Its a real good idea to set up a website for yourself and to show the world your new book along with your great talent as a writer. Your website doesn’t have to be too flashy so don’t worry if your design talent is limited. There are plenty of sites that will offer you a free or real cheap website and the tools to get you up and running in no time. It would also help to open an account with an eCommerce money handling site like PayPal as well, which does charge a fee but only when someone sends you money. Anticipate sales because you are a great author.

Let them shop till they drop

Drop some money in your pocket that is! Since you are just starting out and the world isn’t aware of your greatness yet, it is a very good idea to list your book on an already established eCommerce retail bookstore. Here is where things can get a little tricky and you are going to have to put your skills at research to work. Not all online booksellers are created equal. Again take a look at the site you used to self publish your book, some will offer a retail store where you can list your book for sale. Some sites will of course take a small fee for making their established store available to your book and some of the large online booksellers will take a large chunk out of your books profits for the privilege of having it sold by them.

Research is your best plan of attack

Do your homework and find the best deal you can that will let you keep as much of your hard earned profits as possible while letting your masterpiece get as much traffic as it can for the buck.
